My heart sank a little when Poppy chose this project from the book, because I knew the pattern was very similar to the deer I had made last year, which had been fiddly and difficult. But I found that all the lessons I had learned from making the deer were a great help, and this one felt a lot easier to make. I also found that I'm getting a lot better at embroidering faces, after watching a YouTube tutorial on how to how to start and finish with invisible knots. Poppy loved her giraffe, and named it "Samantha" after me!
