I couldn’t resist making a few adaptations to the pattern:
- Changed the border to seed stitch and made top and bottom a bit wider
- I reduced the number of rows between the sheep from 19 to 17 which meant I could add an extra row of sheep
- added an A among the sheep so I had to play around with sheep positioning and direction
This is the 2nd time I’ve made this blanket and this time I used the recommended yarn. The pattern allows plenty - so no worries about trying to work out how much to allow for each sheep. I find it much easier to have cut lengths hanging on the back than bobbins which I find get tangled. For info the lengths required are approx:
Main sheep: 4m
Front sheep: 3m
Blue between sheep: 3m (about 5m at the sides)
Head: 80cm
2 legs (I do each as a pair): 40cm
And an oddment of white for the sheep’s shoulder.
I started carrying the white behind the sheep’s face for the shoulder, but found it better to start a short new piece on the far side.
