    About

My granddaughter wanted a chunky fairisle/ Icelandic yoke jumper with a turtle neck. Found this pattern and made my first attempt at this type of pattern. I had enough wool left over to make a couple of hats to match.

You’ve made a fantastic job for a first attempt at this type of pattern. Wish I could make something like this. Love the choice of colours too. Hope your Grandaughter loves it.

I am sure you could manage this. It is worth having a go. I was surprised how easy it was. Knitted from the bottom up, then the sleeves knitted separately and joined in to knit the yoke in one. I looked up about weaving in colours at the back of the needles - there are plenty of tutorials on the internet - and knitting in the round, especially on a circular needle is simple. All done in garter stitch, no purl.

@Cas M: I do have a similar pattern for myself that I am plucking up courage to knit -made in the same way as yours. I have loooked at the various tutorials available, there’s nothing you can’t find on YouTube these days. I have so much on the go at the moment I dare not buy any more wool but maybe later in the year I’ll have a go. Watch this space!
