My friend happens to be British, originating from Newcastle, but currently lives in the U.S.A. with her husband and dog. She has been missing home terribly these past few months and when I found this pattern, which I believe came from England, and Wendy's Supreme cotton yarn, which is made in West Yorkshire, I knew I had found the perfect match! I did not make the frock and coat as long as the pattern because babies crawl and it's much easier to do that in a short dress. And, I learned a new word - pilches! Never heard that before and after a little research I was fascinated, so I just had to make a pair. Originally I planned to use ribbon for all the ties, but I thought it would wear and launder better if I just crocheted chains as mentioned in the pattern. I'm not big on tassels or pom-poms so I didn't use those on any of my chains. And I actually knitted I-cord ties over 4 stitches for the bonnet.
