In February 2015 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer for the second time in 12 years. In May my son, Matt and wife Sarah told me I was to be a Grandmother for the first time. They told me sooner than they would normally have done knowing it was just the lift my spirits needed. Not having done any knitting since my own boys were babies my enthusiasm was fired and I haven't looked back. Taking my knitting needles to every scan appointment, every oncology appointment, every chemo and radiotherapy session and into hospital for surgery helped me get through it all. Now I am planning retirement this coming May, a bedroom has been converted to my workroom, my wool stash is building nicely and I have knitted endless cardigans, another blanket, a couple of hats and some toys. I am thinking of starting a business when I retire and have a local trader lined up with a view to looking at my ideas for baby blankets, scarves, cowls, cushions and rugs. All,thanks to my gorgeous, wonderful Ella Rose
