    About

The challenge was to create any article using French knitting.
Memories of spiral coasters was all I knew of the craft.
After knitting what seemed like miles of the stuff, I played around with it and came up with this mannaquin pin cushion. Came 2nd in the comp, beaten by 2 spirals made into a bag!

If you sew make a basic model, I used the mannequin out of Debbie Shore's book.
Then I made loads of French knitting, or you could knit 2x I-cord in two colours or more using a fine yarn, 4 ply or finer. Then it's just a matter of playing around with it. Made some small spirals, just join with small stitches. Then stitched and glues the rest around the shape. It was fun after I'd done the knitting part and it was much admired at the competition show. I did do the knitting and left it a while until I came back to it with the idea.
        Have fun
