4.5 mm crochet hook (use G/6 or H/8 to achieve correct tension)
4 mm crochet hook. (US G/6)
5[6:6:6:6] x 2 cm buttons
Wool sewing needle.

To Substitute: use the correct length of any Aran yarn that has a knit tetension of 19sts and 24 rows to 10 cm square, worked over stocking stitch on no 4.5 mm (US-/UK7) needles. (see ball band label for this info)
